Early Childhood Program

It is very important to remember that physical skills that seem quite simple to us as adults are often quite complicated for young children. At Dance Creations Dance Studio classes in the early childhood levels are grouped into age appropriate categories for 3- 6 year olds. These classes meet once a week and last either 45 or 60 minutes depending on age.

Many types of movement characterizations are used to develop both movement quality and imagination. Students participate in a variety of free movement exercises that teach listening skills (responding to the tempo and mood of the music), levels (High, Medium, Low), and direction. Young dancers who are consistently exposed to this type of activity in class are generally more creative later in life and are consistently freer in their movement styles as they develop.

The student learns to discipline both the body and the mind. At DCDS, we believe in maintaining an environment coupled with positive reinforcement and discipline, which is necessary for the progress and growth of any student. In this age category Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Pre-Pointe are introduced.
